How to Become a Certified Public Accountant

 

A Certified Public Accountant (CPA) is an accountant who is licensed through your individual state’s Board of Accountancy. There are educational requirements, experiential requirements, and licensure information for becoming a CPA.

The path to becoming a Certified Public Accountant is a lengthy process that differs from state to state. Generally, you need to fulfill your state’s educational requirements, apply to take the state CPA exam, which is typically 4 separate exams and then study, study, study until you are able to pass all 4 parts. The AICPA ethics exam, fulfill your work experience requirements, pay you dues and finally, get your license!
